Gold Spot 9 Year Old Irish Whiskey

Gold Spot Irish Whiskey has the luxurious character and rich texture that come from being matured in a wide variety of casks, including Bourbon, Sherry, and Port.

The expression spent at least nine years maturing in a combination of bourbon barrels, sherry butts, Bordeaux wine casks, and port pipes. It has been bottled at a robust 51.4% ABV.

Gold Spot 9 Year Old Tasting Notes

Nose
A light mix of pineapple, kiwi, green banana, and lime zest is followed by Pot Still spices, baked apple, hazelnut, and toasted wood.

Taste
A smooth mouthfeel with a subtle mix of fruit, a hint of clove, and cracked black peppercorns Sweet spices, vanilla, and cinnamon add to the wood’s nutty contribution.

Finish
a lasting and distinctly palatable balance of exotic fruits and spices

All About Spot Whiskeys

In 1805, the Mitchell & Sons Wine Merchants Company was established in the heart of Dublin, Ireland. By the turn of the 19th century, the Mitchells had sold a range of Irish whiskeys under the name “Spot.” This name originated from the company’s practice of marking casks of different ages with a spot of colored paint. As a result, Mitchell & Sons sold whiskeys named Blue Spot, Green Spot, Red Spot, and finally Yellow Spot, which was last seen in the mid-to-late 1960s.
