This rare single cask, bottled exclusively for Globalwhiskyline.com, comes from 100% malted barley initially aged in American oak casks. The finest ruby, tawny, and vintage Port casks were selected and imported from Portugal, where they were then used to finish the whisky for one year. Kavalan Distillery’s location in Yilan, Taiwan, was chosen for its proximity to the cold spring water of Snow Mountain and the salty Pacific Ocean air. The subtropical heat and high humidity of Yilan cause an accelerated maturation, ensuring a rich, complex whisky in just a few years. This cask in particular produced a small yield, maximizing the concentrated flavors of chocolate, stone fruits, berries, and citrus that promise to please the palate.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Gentle aromas of stone fruit and orange compliment the sweetness of Port with the strength of spicy oak.

Palate: Chocolate cake is quickly followed by bright lemon, black currant, and strawberries, giving way to sweet vanilla.

Finish: Lingering notes of lemon and tropical fruits.
