‘Revenges burn in them, because their precious causes would stir the embarrassed man, to the bleeding and the gloomy alarm.’ Menteith, a nobleman who marches to oppose Macbeth in the play’s last act, is the speaker of these famous words. To depict this herald of conflict, Elixir Distillers chief blender Oliver Chilton chose bourbon casks from the Scottish Highlands’ Benriach distillery. At 31 years old, this is a deep, earthy dram with wild notes of hedgerow and woodland floor balanced with the nuttiness and rich vanilla of good-quality American oak.
