Wild Turkey Russell’s Reserve 13-Year-Old Batch 5 2023 Release
Jimmy Russell, known by many as ‘the master distiller’s master distiller’ at Wild Turkey distillery, is a legend of bourbon. But the devotion and artistry for fine bourbon run in the Russell family, and it was Jimmy’s son, Master Distiller Eddie Russell, who spread his wings to create Russell’s Reserve as a tribute to his father’s legacy.
Russell’s Reserve 13-Year-Old was first released in April 2021. There have been five bottlings over the course of the three years, and all releases to date have been bottled at 114.8 proof.
This is Batch No. 5, released in May 2023 at barrel proof.
Tasting Notes
Nose: sweet and woody, with notes of dark dried fruit and chocolate, honey, caramel, nougat, and brown sugar.
Taste: sweet and warming with dried dark fruit notes, complete with charred confectionary notes of charred marshmallow and burnt brown sugar.
Finish: Smoky campfire. Warm, long, and lingering.
