Mortlach 1988 33 Year Old Connoisseurs Choice Description
This 33-year-old Speyside single malt has been released by Gordon & MacPhail as part of their Connoisseurs Choice series. This expression was matured exclusively in a single refill hogshead and was bottled in November 2021 at a strength of 53.8% abv.
This cask strength expression was distilled at Mortlach in 1988, patiently maturing in a single refill American hogshead for an incredible 33 years. The spirit is perfectly matched with the oak.
Nose: Ripe red apple compliments clementine and honeycomb. Sweet demerara sugar notes give way to watermelon and a hint of grapefruit.
Palate: Lemon sherbet and poached pear are followed by meringue. Notes of key lime pie develop alongside subtle black pepper.
Finish: Medium-bodied with citrus and subtle spice.
