Nikka Miyagikyo 2019 Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Single Malt Whisky

The Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt Limited Edition 2019 is one of two releases celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Miyagikyo Distillery in 1969. Situated near Sendai in a mountainous area between two rivers, the Miyagikyo Distillery produces soft, mild malts. Miyagikyo was intended as a counterpoint to Nikka’s other distillery, Yoichi, which is located near the sea in Hokkaido and produces rich, peaty whiskies. This bottling contains whiskies from the past five decades—the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s—meaning it contains some of the distillery’s earliest produced whiskies. It is bottled at 48% ABV.

  • Nose: Sweetness from deep, long-matured sherry, the richness of pound cake, the herbal fragrance like lavender honey,Palate: SHerry-sweet body, cask-soft depth, rich and mellow
  • Finish: woodiness of oak, bright orange peel, trailing strong peat.
